The Ravens closed out their regular season hosting class 3A Washington. It was a tale of two halves as the young Raven squad played one of their best half’s in the first 40 minutes of the match. The back line of Grant and Mason Bender, Bryce Bailey, Mason Helmuth, and Issac Lybeck limited Washington’s offensive chances, while goalie Kyle Neuschwander made several key saves. Midfielders Seth Ours, Jesse Blossom and Micah Gerber and forwards Phoenix Anderson, Lincoln Miller and Rowan Miller were able to maintain possession of the ball, as well as to create several shots. The persistence paid off when Phoenix Anderson received a throw in just outside the eighteen yard line, and after gaining control and beating a defender, sent a ball into the corner for the lead with 47 seconds left on the clock.

The second half was a different story as Washington’s depth began to show. Their first goal came after a deflection in front of the goal five minutes into the half. Fifteen minutes into the half a four minute stretch of time saw Washington pick up three more goals, before finishing the scoring in the last minute.

Hillcrest finishes the regular season 4-6 overall. The Ravens travel to Central Lee in the first round of playoffs, Monday with a start time of 7:30 pm.
