Parable of the speck and the plank: Chapels May 1-5

Rachel Swartzendruber Miller speaks about examining our own “planks” or “logs”

For this week of chapels, we were guided by the parable of the speck and the plank from Matthew 7:1-5.

On Monday, we read through the passage and viewed artwork from various artists and time periods that depicted the story. We then responded to questions about the story in small groups.

Tuesday’s chapel was spent in small groups.

We were privileged on Wednesday to host Rachel Swartzendruber Miller, vice president of advancement at Hesston College. Rachel shared her observations from the story as to how to examine our own “planks” or “logs” which we have in our lives.

For Thursday’s chapel, Bryn Hovde led us in a time of doing what Rachel had encouraged us to do; examine ourselves and ways that we can live out the way of Jesus in our lives.

On Friday, Lee Ebersole led us in a Kahoot to review our year together in chapels.
