The Hillcrest Ravens in dominant fashion today won the 2023 SEISC Golf Championship held at Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club. It was their first conference team championship win in school history. In the process, they defeated 13 other teams with a final score of 322. The next closest competitor was Mediapolis at 351. Hillcrest shot so well that of the 74 golfers, the Ravens placed 3 in the top 5 and 4 in the top 10 for the day.

Luke Schrock was the high scorer for the Ravens with a (40,37) 77 (+5). With just two birdies on the day, it was a purely solid round. Luke ended up tying for the high score of the day of all golfers, but lost in a 2nd playoff hole to New London, earning a runner up medalist spot. Freshman Rowan Miller unloaded a 79 (39,40) with one birdie and consistent pars. Jace Rempel fired a (42,39) for an 81. Jace had multiple par saves and was extremely consistent today. Liam Schrock rounded out the scoring with an 85 (43,42). He had two birdies and multiple pars as well for his 18 hole round.

Josiah Beachy added a (45.46) for a 91, shooting his best two rounds of 9 this year and back to back for some consistent golf at the right time of the year. Seth Ours finished with a pair of 48’s for a 96 with 4 pars. No golfer shot above 50 in their 9 hole half rounds today.

If today was the last day of golf…..The Ravens won their first conference championship ever. The Ravens are 21-0 and with a dual win next Monday, they will be the first undefeated regular season team in school history. But today is not the last day of golf. There is still history to be made…..

RAVENS REIGN SUPREME IN SUPER CONFERENCE BOYS’ GOLF
For the first time in school history, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens are your boys’ golf champions in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. Hillcrest finished first in team scoring at yesterday’s Super Conference Tournament at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club in Wapello. In their first 18-hole tournament of the season, the Ravens’ score of 322 strokes was 29 less than second-place Mediapolis and an even 30 better than third-place Wapello.

Hillcrest senior Luke Schrock was nearly the individual Super Conference champion as well, finishing tied with New London’s Mason Shelledy after 18 holes with a score of five-over-par 77 but losing the second playoff hole and taking runner-up honors. Raven freshman Rowan Miller continued his spectacular debut season by finishing third on the leaderboard with a 79, while senior Jace Rempel was only two strokes behind in a tie for fourth.
