Hillcrest soccer vs Mediapolis  5.02.2023

The Ravens struggled in the windy conditions against a Mediapolis team undefeated in conference play in a 0-3 loss. The first goal came in the first minute as the wind played tricks with a lofted shot dropping between the crossbar and the goalies hands. Mediapolis added to the score thirteen minutes into the half on a long shot from about 20 yards out.

Raven defenders Grant Bender, Mason Bender, Bryce Bailey and Mason Helmuth limited Mediapolis the rest of the half. In an effort to generate some offense, Grant moved forward and Seth Ours stepped into the central defender role to finish out the half.

The Ravens worked hard to generate more offense, but found it difficult to put any strong shots on goal. Mediapolis notched their third goal ten minutes into the half on another long shot.

Hillcrest is now 4-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Thursday the Ravens travel to Burlington Notre Dame, tied with Mediapolis at the top of the conference.
