Hillcrest Track and Field Compete at Gardner-Wilson Relays

It was a great night for Raven long jumpers at the Gardner-Wilson Relays Thursday hosted by Louisa-Muscatine.  Strong west winds pushed the horizontal jumpers on their approach and through the air into the sand pit.  The boys competed first.  Owen Scott jumped twenty-one feet four and one half inches on his sixth of six jumps to place third in a competitive field   Nineteen feet eight inches was his previous best jump.  Delaney Shaw and Anna Torok both took their turns jumping in the girls competition.  Both jumpers scratched on all of their first three jumps, but were able to record a good jump on their fourth attempts.  Shaw’s best jump was fifteen feet six and one half inches, which placed her second with a new personal best.  Torok placed fourth with a jump measuring fourteen feet eleven inches.  This is her new personal best.  Torok also set a new personal best of 14.49 seconds in the 100 meter dash to place fourth.  Morgyn Nafziger was one notch better placing third in 14.43.  Torok also ran well in the 200 meters placing sixth in 30.79.  Erin Bontrager was tenth in 33.47.  Shaw placed third in the 400 meter dash in 1:10.56.  Bontrager was also tenth in the 400 in 1:26.20.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Nafziger, Torok, Bontrager and Shaw placed second in 57.55.  Clair Withrow placed eighth in the 800 in 3:07.98.  Morgyn Nafziger threw the shot put twenty feet eleven inches to place eleventh.  Owen Scott also competed in the high jump clearing the bar at five feet eight inches for third place.  The Ravens next see action at the Ekstrand Relays hosted by WACO in Wayland April 27.
