Chapels Continue Exploring Parables: Jan. 30 – Feb. 15

We’ve had a variety of chapels and activities over the past three weeks.

On Monday, January 30, we began looking at the parables of Jesus about the hidden treasure and the pearl of great price from Matthew 13:44-46.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups.

On Wednesday, we concluded our exploration of the parables that we began on Monday. Our “treasure hunt” was to find the treasure in each other.

There was no school for the rest of the week because of the Mennonite Educators’ Conference that many teachers attended.

We began the chapel week on Monday, February 6 by exploring the parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10:30-37. After reading the parable, Art teacher Bryn Hovde led us in thinking through implications of the parable.

There was a planned late start on Tuesday so we did not have chapel time.

On Wednesday, Bryn had us consider a variety of symbols from the parable (donkey, money, oil, wine, etc) and what that can represent for us today.

Thursday was a snow day, and on Friday, we met in our Service and Learning Groups.

On Monday, February 13th, Trevor Knetsfield, a representative from Pensacola Christian College shared reflections from the story of Naaman from 2 Kings 5. The Israelite slave girl had every reason to hate her captor but yet she was instrumental in the healing of Naaman from leprosy. We may think we are insignficant, but in the Kingdom of God, that is what will have the most influence.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups.

On Wednesday, we played the annual Relationship game in which teams of two competed against each other by answering questions about themselves and the other person.

Thursday and Friday were affected by weather so that we did not have chapel both days.
