Ravens XC completes season at State qualifier

Sophomore Micah Gerber led the Raven runners, as he has all year, at the state qualifier meet hosted by Regina in Iowa City Thursday. Gerber attacked the race covering the first mile in 5:46 in twenty-second place. The top ten individual finishers and the top two teams qualify to go on to the state meet in Fort Dodge next week. Gerber was not able to hold the quick pace and dropped a few places before finishing in twenty-seventh place. His final time was 19:46, ninety-five seconds faster than on this course last year. Jesse Blossom was the second Raven to finish. He placed thirty-eighth in 20:20 on the 5.037 kilometer course. Blossom took eighty-seven seconds off his time at this meet last year. Jeremiah Danker showed the biggest personal improvement on the team. Danker placed seventy-fifth in 24:16. Kyle Neuschwander nearly equaled his best performance finishing in 26:10 for seventy-ninth place. Payton Griebel of Bellevue won the race in 16:49 with Aiden O’Neil of Regina placing second in 16:53. O’Neil won this meet in 2021. Regina won the team title with Bellevue taking second place.
