Gerber leads the way for the Ravens
Micah Gerber led the way for the running Ravens at Heritage Oaks Thursday. Gerber placed sixth in 19:01. This was his best performance to date. Gerber came through despite the coolest conditions so far this season. It was 51 degrees with northwest winds at 15-35 miles per hour at race time. Jesse Blossom also ran well placing fifteenth in 20:12. Kyle Neuschwander sprinted ahead of Jeremiah Danker in the last 100 meters of the race for forty-second place. Neuschwander’s time was 26:07 and Danker’s was 26:12. Host Mediapolis had the first four finishers and took the team title with eighteen points. Solomon Zaug won the race in 16:47.

Delaney Shaw medaled in the girls race at Heritage Oaks Thursday. Shaw placed fourteenth with a time of 25:35. Cheyanne Bruns of Twin Cedars won the race in 21:18. Mediapolis was the only school of the seven present that had a full girls team.

The Hillcrest Academy girls and boys cross country teams will compete in the 1A state qualifier meet hosted by Regina at Iowa City Kickers Soccer Complex next Thursday October 20. The girls race is at 4:00 p.m. and the boys begin at 4:45 p.m. The top two teams and ten individuals in each race qualify to advance to the state meet held in Fort Dodge Saturday October 28.
