Ravens Host Early Bird XC Meet

Hillcrest Academy hosted the Early Bird cross-country meet Tuesday, August 30 on the school’s campus and in the nearby Joetown woods. It was 80 degrees under a blue sky. Nine schools participated in the meet. Hillcrest runner, Delaney Shaw, represented the host school placing nineteenth in 28:32. Her time was one minute faster than her time at this meet last year. Ani Wedemeyer of City High won the girls race for the second year. Her time was 20:58. City High won the girls team race with a perfect score of 15.

Raven Sophomore Micah Gerber placed fifth in the varsity boys race with a time of 20:22. Gerber ran the course two minutes faster than he did at the Early Bird meet last year. Jesse Blossom placed 12^th in 21:53. Blossom took over four minutes off his time from this meet last year. Sophomore Gage Heyne of English Valleys won the boys race in 18:37. Cedar Rapids Jefferson won the team title with 30 points.
