Ravens Golf Improves on Conference Course

Freshman Liam Schrock

The Hillcrest Ravens golf team competed against 12 other teams for the conference championships. They managed to place right in the middle this year despite shooting 20 strokes better than last year. Every single returner, Jace Rempel, Luke Schrock, Josiah Beachy and Alex Niemeyer bested their last year scores at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Lee County.

Despite heavy rainfall making the course very soggy the previous day, the Ravens were led by incoming freshman Liam Schrock with a 41,47 (88) score earning him a spot on 2nd team all-conference. He missed 1st team by just one stroke. Earning honorable mentions were Jace Rempel (52,43) and Luke Schrock (49,46) both knocking out 95’s for 18 holes. Alex Niemeyer shot a 50,55 (105). Josiah Beachy shot a 54,56 (110). In total, the Ravens scored a 383 as a team for 18 holes beating last year’s mark of 403. This was the first time the Ravens played 18 holes in one day this year. Even though there were some strokes left out on the course, there were some impressive drives, chips and putts by Hillcrest and some better consistency. Luke Schrock was in the fairway every shot but 3 times today. Liam Schrock hit a powerful 268 yard drive on hole number 6 and had 5 pars and a birdie. Alex Niemeyer’s 50 front nine and 55 back nine were his third and 5th best nine holes of his Raven career. More impressive this past week he shot his best and 2nd best career scores in the two previous meets. Josiah Beachy had one par and Jace Rempel managed 5 pars despite a pulled muscle in his back.
