Monday, April 25 Mid-Prairie (5-3) took on Cedar Valley Christian (3-2) for a home match, only it wasn’t played at the Mid-Prairie Soccer Complex. This home match was played on another home field (Hillcrest Academy). Mid-Prairie shares their soccer program with Hillcrest Academy and has been able to play a few home games at Hillcrest Academy that past few years. This year’s team has 4 seniors and 2 Freshman from Hillcrest. The 4 Seniors; Esther Hughes, Evelyn Gerber, Julia Boller and Leah Bontrager, have been starters since freshman year and a huge part of the success that Mid-Prairie has had the past 4 years. Morgyn Nafziger and Lydia Beachy are Freshman on the team this year and have already started to put their mark on the team.

Hillcrest Senior Esther Hughes has been scoring goals in bunches this year, currently sitting at 2nd in the state with 21 goals, and scored her 5th Hat Trick of the season on Monday night. The Golden Hawks got on the board with a goal from Sophie Baker (assist Kaitlin Martin). That goal was followed up by two more goals from Hughes to end the 1st Half up 3-0. Hughes got her 3rd goal of the night in the 2nd half to take a 4-0 lead. Cedar Valley got a goal past the keeper to bring the score to 4-1. Sophie Baker closed out the night with her 2nd goal to bring the final score to 5-1.

Mid-Prairie will be playing again at Hillcrest on May 10th for Senior night for the 4 Hillcrest seniors.
