Poetry March Madness

Poetry March Madness

The Hillcrest Academy freshman class invites the community to participate in the first ever Hillcrest Community March Madness/April Poetry Month Bracket

Over the last weeks the students have been reading and exploring a range of poetry from classic to contemporary, from sacred to silly, from serious and thought provoking to playful and funand wondered if the Hillcrest community might also want to participate in the excitement.

The selections came from the Grade 9 textbook, several Hillcrest teachers, and students’ choices from Poetry 180, a Library of Congress website which offers a poem a day for the school year.

To play, simply read the linked poems and decide which is “best” by completing a two-question form.

You can start wherever you wish and read as many or few as you wish. The bracket will track the number of votes each poem receives under the name of the poem.

The first round is open March 28-April 10.

May the best poem win!
