The Great GMO Debate

The Great GMO Debate

Students in 1st hour and 7th hour Biology researched GMOs (more accurately known as transgenic organisms) commonly found in Iowa as well as pros and cons of their use.  Students were randomly put into groups of pros and cons and had a two day debate where students presented their points and then the other side was allowed time for an objection followed by a rebuttal.

Both sides in the two classes argued their points well with the CONS group narrowly winning in both classes. School counselor, Leanne Bender was the judge for the period 1 class and (the other) Science Instructor, Mike Goudy for the period 7 class. Science Instructor, Mike Severino-Patterson served as the moderator for both debates.
