Chapels Continue to Journey Through John: Jan. 3 – 7

We kicked off our chapel life for this second semester by renewing our walk through the gospel of John after exploring the stories around the birth of Jesus during the month of December.

There was no school on Monday. Then Tuesday we met in small groups.

Wednesday was the first day all together in Celebration Hall. Lee Ebersole, chapel coordinator, reviewed our theme of “CommUNITY: Rooted in Jesus”. We were then reminded of our chapel etiquette for how we function as a community around our chapel life. Finally, we reviewed the variety of titles given to Jesus in John 1 in preparation for continuing on in our journey through the gospel of John. These titles are expressed in a variety of ways throughout the rest of the gospel.

On Thursday, we began exploring the story of Jesus turning water into wine found in John 2:1-11. Junior Rebecca Farrier spoke of how Jesus wants to be a part of our lives in ways that lead to transformation.

Friday’s chapel time was spent in a prayer exercise called listening prayer. We were encouraged to imagine inviting Jesus into a life event/situation and imagine what Jesus might do or say in that situation. We then gathered in our small groups to share what we heard.
