Advent Chapels: Dec 13-21

We closed out our semester with a variety of chapels. The stories we used were the stories of the visitors that came to see the baby Jesus.

On Monday, junior Josiah Beachy led us in looking into the story of the Magi following a star to see Jesus and the story of the shepherds who were told by an angel of Jesus’ birth. Students performed in impromptu skits to illustrate the stories.

Tuesday’s time was spent in small groups.

Wednesday featured Pastor Steve Nelson from Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Steve spoke about the visitors to Jesus and how they represent people from a variety of backgrounds and social statuses. All people are welcome with Jesus.

On Thursday, Chapel Coordinator Lee Ebersole led an online quiz game featuring questions developed from the stories that we’ve been looking into in December.

Friday’s chapel featured the Hillcrest Academy Praise Band leading us worship using a variety of Christmas songs.

For Monday’s chapel, we spent some time in quiet reflection about how Jesus is Immanuel, “God With Us” and what that might mean for each of us.

We finished up the semester by meeting in our small groups.
