Jesus as the King of Israel: Chapel Nov. 1 – 5

Jesus as the King of Israel: Chapel Nov. 1 – 5

Our emphasis during this week of chapels was on Jesus as the King of Israel as revealed in John 1:47-49.

On Monday, we celebrated All Saints Day. Bible instructor Lee Ebersole introduced the service with some words of explanation about the day. We then heard from guidance counselor Leanne Bender. Leanne shared memories of her father, Leon McNeil. We then all had an opportunity to light a candle in memory or honor of someone who has been a spiritual influence in our lives. Junior Rebecca Farrier sang “Light Your Candle” during the time of candle lighting.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups.

On Wednesday, junior Josiah shared a few thoughts about Nathanael transformation as we looked briefly at the John 1:47-49 passage. The rest of the time was led by Y-Co, our student government organization with the focus on our dress etiquette policy.

On Thursday, junior Rebecca Farrier shared about the context that New Testament Jews would have had to think about Jesus as the King of Israel. Pulling from Old Testament passages, Rebecca talked about Jesus as the Good King.

Friday’s chapel wrapped up our emphasis on Jesus as the king of Israel as we heard stories from several people. During this open mic time, we were encouraged to share about times of transformation as we encountered Jesus.
