Ravens Cross Country Competes at the Stormin’ Pointer Invitational

Freshman Jesse Blossom takes over ninety seconds off his previous personal record.

Senior Collin Miller led the Hillcrest Ravens cross country team Tuesday afternoon in Center Point at the Stormin’ Pointer Invitational held on the Center Point-Urbana school grounds.  Miller broke twenty minutes on a 5k course for the first time in his high school career.  He placed thirtieth in 19:53.  Freshman Micah Gerber was the next Raven finisher placing forty-eighth in 21:09.  Jesse Blossom took over ninety seconds off his previous personal record.  Blossom placed sixty-fourth in 22:09.  Quang Huynh lowered his personal best time to 25:38 to place eighty-first.  Jorge Canchola made his first appearance of the season to place eighty-second in 25:45.  Garrett Hurst was the next Raven finisher placing eighty-sixth in 28:28.  Hurst’s 2:22 time improvement in his personal best was the biggest for the team.  Junior Isaac Lybeck ran in his first ever cross country race finishing in 28:45.  The Ravens placed ninth in the nine team field.  Marion won the team title with a perfect score of 15.  Marion took the top six places.  Senior Shane Erb placed first in 16:00.

Senior Leah Bontrager led a quartet of young women representing Hillcrest Academy at the Stormin’ Pointer Invitational Tuesday.  Bontrager placed nineteenth in 22:38.  Delaney Shaw was back in action and finished in 26:56 for sixty-ninth place.  Morgyn Nafziger was the next Raven to finish.  She crossed the line in a season best time of 28:24 for eightieth place.  Julia Boller took nearly two minutes off her previous season best finishing in 29:12 for eighty-ninth place.  Kora Katcher won the race in 19:26 leading Center Point-Urbana to a team title over 3A ranked Marion and Waverly-Shell Rock.
