Bruns & Ortiz-Luna Swim at Iowa City West
The girls’ season wrapped up in stellar fashion in early November. Iowa City West had its highest state finish ever (2nd) and took home 6/11 swimming titles while setting 4 state records. The team also went undefeated in the regular season and at conference for both the JV and Varsity squads. Julia Ortiz-Luna, a Hillcrest contributor to the coop team, got her feet wet as a freshman. Julia is newer to the sport, but has a bright future on the team. She has an amazing sense of humor that makes the hard work seem easier.
The Iowa City West coop swim program had a very successful season this year. They finished 3rd at the state meet and won the 200 Medley Relay there. They also had a great regular season finishing undefeated for JV and Varsity. At the conference meet, they finished first as well. Hillcrest swimmer Gabe Bruns contributed to all of the team’s success with a great attitude and his work ethic. Gabe will return next season as a senior and we are looking for big things from him.
