Ravens Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team Sets New School Record

Collin Miller, Aaron Hershberger, John Hughes, & Will Kolk set a new school record in the shuttle hurdle relay.

Thursday the Hillcrest Ravens track and field teams competed at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet hosted by WACO.  The meet featured both the north and south divisions of the conference.  Events included both divisions intermingled.  Placings and scoring were separated by division.  Ravens Senior, Aaron Hershberger, won the 400 meter hurdles and placed second in the 110 meter high hurdles.  He also anchored the shuttle hurdle team to a new school record.  Aaron’s time of 59.01 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles is a new personal best.  The shuttle hurdle team of Hershberger, John Hughes, Collin Miller and Will Kolck ran the race in 1:19.07.  This new record replaces the previous record of 1:19.90 set by David Yoder, Josh Widmer, Ryan Oberman and Gideon Grenell in 2007 when the event was introduced.  Three soccer players joined the Ravens track and field team of three, allowing Hillcrest to compete in a total of five relays at the meet.  Quang Huynh, Andrew Starr and Collin Miller ran the sprint medley in a time of 1:55.60 for sixth place.  Hughes, Starr, Kolck and Miller teamed up in the 4 x 400 meter relay placing eighth in 4:12.63.  Huynh, Starr, Kolck and Hughes made up the 4 x 200 meter relay placing ninth in 1:47.62.  Hershberger, Hughes, Huynh and Miller survived a dropped baton in the 4 x 100 meter relay finishing in 55.06 seconds for ninth place.  Huynh and Starr also competed in the 100 meter dash finishing in 13.95 and 14.11 respectively.
