The Hillcrest Ravens hosted #1 ranked Burlington Notre Dame and learned that Notre Dame deserves its number 1 ranking. The Ravens held off a potent Notre Dame offense for ten minutes before giving up the first goal, a corner kick. The ball ended up near the right post of the goal and in the ensuing scrum, the ball squirted by the goalie. Nine minutes later, Notre Dame found the goal again and soon after, disaster hit when defensive midfielder, Noah Miller had to come off the field with an injury. Notre Dame took advantage of Miller’s absence, finding the goal three more times to end the half with a 5-0 score.

In the second half, Hillcrest came out with renewed purpose and kept Notre Dame from finding the back of the net, until about the halfway point of the half. Notre Dame added two late goals for the final 8-0 score.

Despite the score, the back line anchored by Eli Ours and Grant Bender, played extremely well under intense pressure. Aaron Hershberger and Collin Miller also on the back line showed great improvement over the course of the game. Goalie Aiden Krabill, under pressure all night, made 22 saves.

Hillcrest moves to 1-1. The Ravens next travel to Central Lee on Tuesday, April 20.
