On par: Ravens continue their golf success

The temperature was around 50 degrees with no sun and extremely windy at the Heritage Oaks Golf Course on Thursday night, as the Hillcrest Ravens took on the Wapello Indians. It was probably the coldest conditions the Ravens have played in so far this season.

Luke and London Schrock took both the medalist spots and have been the only medalists at each meet so far this year. Luke finished with one par and was very consistent with his game, despite the chill outside. London started with a par, on a long par 5, and finished with a birdie on the final par 5, also playing  very consistently.

Jace Rempel and Josiah Beachy, despite a couple tough holes they went through, battled through adversity. Beachy was hitting his drives better and Rempel improved on his putting stroke.

Alex Niemeyer was very impressive. A personal goal of shooting under 80 was shattered, as he double bogeyed 5 holes, getting him to shooting under 70 for the first time ever.  He also sank the last putt of his last hole – an 8 footer with a break and a fist pump at the end as it dropped!

Coach Phil Schintler commented, “All in all, with the chill of the day and an hour plus drive to get there, we played reasonably well and made some improvements in our game. We still have plenty to work on. The guys are excited starting out our season 3-0!
