Ravens volleyball places third in the Washington tournament

The girls had an exceptional weekend at the Washington Tournament, finishing the day with third place and two wins under their belt. Their first game was Sigourney, where they won both sets 21-17. Leading the match in kills was Malia Sedlacek, followed by Sophie Marshall who had six, Esther Hughes who had three, Yanitza Gutierrez who had two and Evelyn Gerber who had one. Norah Yoder led in assists with 11, followed by Gutierrez who had six and Gerber with one. Our two aces of the match came from Gutierrez.  Leading in digs for the match was Gutierrez with 11, Grace Miller with eight, Gerber and Sedlacek with seven, and Sophie with two.  The next game was against Washington, where the girls lost in three sets; 13-21, 19-21, and 14-16. Leading in kills was Sedlacek with six, followed by Hughes and Gerber with four, and Marshall and Gutierrez with one. Gutierrez also lead in assists with eight, followed by Yoder with seven,  and Miller with one. Our team leader in digs for the match was Miller and Gutierrez with 18, followed by Gerber with 16, Yoder and Sedlacek with 14, Hughes with seven, and Marshall with four. Not only were the girls all over the floor, but they were all over the net as well. Marshall and Hughes both had two solo blocks and Gutierrez had one. The second to last match for the day was against Regina and the girls lost in two sets; 9-21 and 16-21. Gutierrez lead the team in kills with four,  followed by Marshall with three, Sedlacek with two and Hughes with one. Yoder lead the team with six assists and Gutierrez had four. Marshall lead the team with two aces and Yoder had one ace.

The last game of the day was against Highland for third place. The girls were rearing to go against Highland because they wanted another to chance to win, since playing them on Thursday for their last conference game of the season.  On Thursday, the girls ended up losing to Highland in 5 sets: 18-25, 25-14, 26-24, 19-25, 10-15. There were so many highlights from Thursday night’s match. Leading in kills was Esther Hughes with 13, followed by Yanitza Gutierrez with six, Sophie Marshall with five, Norah Yoder with three, Malia Sedlacek with two, and Evelyn Gerber and Grace Miller both having one. Our leader in assists for the night was Gutierrez with 11, followed closely by Yoder who had nine, then Miller with five, Gerber with three, Sedlacek with two and Marshall with one. Ravens had a very exciting night serving, as Sedlacek ended the night with a season high eight aces, followed by Gutierrez, Gerber, and Marshall all having one ace. The Ravens were all over the floor with digs.  Leading in digs for the night was Gerber with 33, Gutierrez with 29, Miller with 22, Sedlacek had 21, Yoder following close behind with 19, and Marshall who had three. As mentioned before, the girls were hoping to play Highland at the Washington tournament and got a chance their last match of the day. The girls won in three sets;  21-16, 21-12, and 17-15. Hughes lead the team in kills with 10, followed by Marshall with four, Yoder and Gutierrez with three, and Sedlacek with two. Gutierrez had 10 assists, Yoder had eight, Miller had three and Sedlacek had one. Sedlacek and Gutierrez had three aces,  Miller, Yoder, Gerber and Marshall all had one. To round off the match, Gutierrez lead with 18 digs, Miller had 13, Yoder had 11, Gerber with eight, Sedlacek with seven, and Hughes with two and Marshall with one.
