Ravens come out swinging but fall to Wapello

Last night’s match started out hot for the Ravens but eventually they fell to Wapello in four sets. The Ravens took the first set 25-21, but lost the next three 14-25, 18-25, and 14-25. The girls fought hard and their statistics reflect as such. Highlights from the match include Yanitza Gutierrez serving all 18 of her attempts successfully with two aces. Following Gutierrez was Malia Sedlacek serving 10 of her 11 attempts successfully with one ace. Leading in kills for the night was Esther Hughes and Gutierrez with eight kills, Sophie Marshall with six, then Sedlacek, Norah Yoder, and Evelyn Gerber all had three kills a piece. Coming in with 12 assists was Gutierrez, followed by Yoder who had 10. Grace Miller and Sedlacek ended the match with two assists each and Marshall had one. Rounding off the stats and leading in digs was Miller with 25, Yoder, Gerber, and Gutierrez each had 11 digs, Sedlacek had nine and Marshall and Esther both had one dig a piece. The Ravens play again next Thursday, September 24 in South East Iowa Super Conference play.
