Striding Forward: Ravens cross country improves their time
Senior Will Kolck and Junior Collin Miller represented Hillcrest Academy at the English Valleys cross country invitational Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Kolck and Miller ran together for the first half of the course with Kolck pulling away over the final one and a half miles. Kolck finished in thirty-second place with a time of 22:58 on his first attempt at the course. This was Miller’s third time on the course. He bettered his previous best on the course by two and a half minutes, finishing in 23:48 for forty-sixth place. Davis County won the team title with 20 points. Kenny Cronin of Davis County was the individual winner finishing in 17:04 on the very challenging course.

Junior Leah Bontrager led the way for the women harriers of Hillcrest Academy at the English Valleys invitational Tuesday afternoon. The course on the Knoll Ridge Golf Course is the most challenging course the team usually sees. Despite that, Bontrager and Julia Boller both recorded faster times than they did on the Hillcrest campus two weeks earlier. Bontrager placed third in 22:42, while Boller was twenty-seventh in 27:14. Julia’s time was a full 4:20 faster than her time on this course last year. Senior Kennedy Roth completed her first race of the season placing thirty-eighth in 30:16. The Ravens did not have enough finishers to record a team score. Davis County won the team title with 20 points. Macy Hill of Davis County won the race in 22:10.
