Last night’s games against Louisa Muscatine was a great match. JV won in two sets: 21-8 and 21-17. The girls brought energy coming off the JV into the Varsity match. Losing in four sets to Louisa Muscatine, the girls put up a great fight. The scores of the sets are: 14-25, 24-26, 25-20, and 20-25. Highlights of the match include: Esther Hughes leading the team with 10 kills on the night, Sophie Marshall had eight kills, Yanitza Gutierrez and Malia Sedlacek both had five kills a piece, and Evelyn Gerber finished with three kills. The team had a great night serving with every single server getting at least one ace. Gutierrez, Yoder, Marshall and Gerber all had two, while Miller and Sedlacek both had one ace. The team had a serving efficiency of 93 percent with Yoder, Sedlacek, and Marshall all serving with 100 percent efficiency. Leading the night in digs was Miller with 19, and close behind her was Sedlacek with 14, Gerber finished with 11, Gutierrez and Yoder both had eight digs, and Marshall finished with two. Leading in blocks for the night was Hughes with two solo blocks, while Gutierrez had one solo block. Coach Taylor Kurtz commented, “The girls are getting better with every match they are playing – fighting for every point.”
