Ravens volleyball falls short in five-set loss

The Ravens home opener against the Lone Tree Lions was an exciting start to this year’s conference play.  JV started off playing extremely well and won both games 21-11 and 21-6! The team played really well together.  Varsity went to five games with Hillcrest winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-13. Hillcrest then dropped the next three games against Lone Tree 27-29, 21-25, and 14-16. The girls put up a great fight and gave the Lions a run for their money in every single set. Match highlights include an 84 percent serving efficiency with Malia Sedlacek leading the team with four aces on the night. Sophie Marshall had three aces, while both Norah Yoder and Grace Miller had two, and Yanitza Gutierrez had one ace. Leading in digs was Miller with 15. Both Evelyn Gerber and Gutierrez had 11 digs each,  Yoder had 10, Sedlacek had six, Marshall had three digs and Esther Hughes had one, creating a total of 57 digs as a team. Leading in kills for the night was Marshall with 12 and Hughes close behind her with 10.  Gerber and Gutierrez both had six kills a piece,  Yoder and Sedlacek had five and Miller had one kill,  leaving the team with a total of 43 kills.  Rounding off the stats was Gutierrez leading with nine assists, Yoder had seven and Sedlacek had three.
