National Athletic Training Month

March is National Athletic Training Month. This a great time to highlight the athletic training services that Hillcrest Academy provides to the student-athletes.

Our school has partnered with JET Physical Therapy to provide athletic training services at our home varsity cross country, volleyball, basketball, and soccer events. We have two great alumni, Chuck Miller ’00 and Adam Yoder ’00, who provide the majority of the athletic training coverage at our events. What people might not realize is that Chuck also stops at school on Wednesdays to evaluate and provide treatment to injured athletes. He works with the players and coaches to ensure the health and safety of athletes as they participate and to speed up the recovery of injuries.

Having the athletic trainer on the sideline is important to handle emergency situations and concussions. An athletic trainer available during games lets the coaches be able to focus on coaching and not worrying about the status of an injured athlete. The ultimate goal of the athletic training service is to reduce personal health care costs and missed school from sports injuries and concussions by having the athletes evaluated and treated at the school.
