Ravens fall to New London

Friday night Hillcrest traveled to New London to take on the Tigers for the fourth place game of the SEISC shootout.  The Ravens were looking to avenge an early loss to New London, but came up short in a 56-48 defeat. Hillcrest got down early and trailed 10-17 after a quarter, and 25-35 at the break.  New London built the lead to 39-27 before a 7-0 Hillcrest run made it 32-37 with five minutes to play in the third. New London was able to find a little breathing room and took a 49-41 lead into the final period.  Hillcrest wouldn’t go away and cut the lead to three, 46-49 with four minutes to play. Both teams exchanged baskets and the Ravens were within striking distance at 48-51 with two minutes to play. Hillcrest was held scoreless the final two minutes and New London was able to knock down free throws to pull away with the win.  

Hillcrest was led in scoring by Junior Eli Ours who finished with a game high 19 points, including three triples.  Senior Kobe Borntrager scored 14, going 4-5 from the foul line. John Hughes finished with seven, London Schrock had four,  Drew Blauvelt and Aaron Hershberger rounded out the scoring with a basket each. Ours had a team high four assists and added two steals.  Hershberger had a team high seven rebounds. Borntrager and Schrock each had a pair of steals.  

Hillcrest falls to 9-9 on the year and will travel to Danville on Tuesday for a non conference match-up with the Bears.
