Girls fall to Mediapolis

Esther Hughes led the way for the Ravens with 10 points, two assists and two steals. Yani Guettierez added five points. “Mediapolis is a very talented team,” Hillcrest head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “We got off to a nice start and played them even for the first part of the first quarter, but when they increased their full court pressure we stumbled. I thought Hughes especially did a nice job of being aggressive throughout the game on the offensive end and worked hard defensively.”

The Ravens play three games in five days this week and repeat the same schedule next week. “We’re going to play a lot of basketball over the next two weeks so there is ample opportunity to improve and compete. Our focus as a group has to be on competing for a full 32 minutes and communication on both ends of the ball.

Hillcrest returns to action on Thursday at Lousia-Muscatine and travels to Pekin on Friday. Tipoff for both games is set for 6 PM.
