Ravens fall to Highland

Hillcrest hosted Highland Tuesday and saw the Huskies get past the Ravens 65-58, despite a strong effort down the stretch by the home squad. Down 50-33 with seven minutes remaining, Hillcrest put forth a great effort, but the hole was too big to work out of.
Highland led 15-14 after one period and then stretched the margin to 29-21 at the half. The Huskies led 48-33 after three quarters, before Hillcrest got things going with a 25-point final frame.
Eli Ours scored 23 points, including five triples and had three steals to lead the Ravens. Kobe Borntrager recorded 17 points, four rebounds and two steals. John Hughes followed with nine points and a team-high five rebounds, and Aaron Hershberger sparked with four points and three steals off the bench. Grant Bender knocked down a trey in his varsity debut, and London Schrock completed the scoring with two points.

Coach Dwight Gingerich said “we played well in stretches, but need to compete harder and expect to sustain that high level when we find it, and not let up. There were some really good moments to build on, and I see us growing and improving each day.”
Hillcrest drops to 4-5 on the season, 4-4 in conference play, and next plays Friday at Danville in another non-conference tilt.
