Advent is focus of chapel December 2-6

This week of chapels began to focus on the season of Advent. But before we got to that, Meredith Blossom wrapped up our international education time by sharing with us about the country of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone has a health crisis in which many women die as a result of childbirth. Efforts are being made to curtail this, and Meredith shared with us about an organization which is doing that called Partners in Health.

On Wednesday, we wrote notes to residents at Pleasantview Home, a local retirement community.

Thursday’s chapel featured the story of the original Saint Nicholas as told by the people at Veggie Tales. We give not to make us happy but because we have been blessed and because God uses us as his hands and feet.

We ended up our week with an Advent hymn sing in the Celebration Hall foyer. Led by Sarah Miller, we enjoyed the wonderful acoustics of that space as we sang out songs like “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”.
