Ravens get win in home opener

The Hillcrest Ravens used a big third quarter on the way to a 60-39 win in their home opener Friday in Hillcrest Union. Up 25-22 at the half, the Ravens outscored the Falcons 22-6 in the third period to stake a 47-28 lead.

Eli Ours paced the attack for the Ravens with 21 points on 9-12 from the floor, including three third quarter treys, and had five steals. Kobe Borntrager had an active stat line, recording 12 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and three assists. Noah Miller followed with eight points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Aaron Hershberger scored five points and pulled down four rebounds, and London Schrock added four points and four rebounds. John Hughes had four points and Aiden Kolck, Will Kolck and Aidan Yoder completed the scoring with two points each. Drew Blauvelt picked up three steals and had two assists.

Coach Dwight Gingerich said “We played harder over a longer period of time than in our last time out, and I liked the ball movement. We were active on defense, which created good scoring opportunities.”

Hillcrest goes to 1-1 on the season and next plays at Mediapolis on Tuesday.
