Girls lose to Lone Tree and Louisa Muscatine

The Ravens lost on the road to cross town rival Lone Tree on Tuesday, 31-62

Junior guard Yani Guttierez led the way for the Ravens with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals, while sophomore guard Esther Hughes added 13 points to go with two assists and two steals. Senior Sarena Gerber and junior Sarah Miller rounded out the scoring with a bucket each.

The girls also dropped a home matchup to the Louisa Muscatine Falcons Friday evening, 23-66.

Guttierez again paced the Ravens with 11 points and pulled down four rebounds. Sophomore forward Leah Bontrager had her best offensive outing and recorded six points to go with six boards. Miller and Hughes rounded out the scoring with four and two points respectively. Hughes also dished out three assists and tallied two steals.

“It was a bit of a challenging week for us,” Hillcrest head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “We need to improve quickly on some basics to be more competitive in games. We are a group that is capable of performing much better than we are right now, but we have to figure out a way to be more engaged. I’ve loved what I’ve seen in spurts from individuals and we really have had some nice team play, but we need more than just spurts, we need 32 minutes of that.”

The Ravens (1-4, 0-2)) travel to Mediapolis (3-0) on Tuesday, December 10th. Tipoff is set for 6 PM.
