Girls Drop Home Opener

The Ravens opened up the 2019-2020 season at home against the English Valleys Bears Friday night and dropped the contest 25-63.

Junior guard Yani Guttierez led the way for the Ravens with 12 points and six rebounds, while sophomore guard Esther Hughes added nine points to go with two assists. Senior Sarena Gerber and junior Sarah Miller rounded out the scoring with a bucket each. Junior Meredith Blossom added three assists.

“This was a bit of a rough opener for us, but you have to start somewhere,” Hillcrest head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “We have a lot of work to do and are still working to get people in the right positions. There were quite a few positives to take from this evening and obviously we saw areas where we need to improve. The good thing is that the areas we need to improve in are completely within our control. This is a great group of girls and I have no doubt we’ll make big strides over the next couple of weeks.”

The Ravens (0-1) travel to Tri-County on Tuesday, November 26th for their first road matchup. Tipoff is set for 6 PM.
