2019 SEISC ALL-CONFERENCE Softball & Baseball Selections

IMS had five softball players make the 2019 SEISC All-Conference Teams. 

RUBYE NEY, senior, made the SEISC First Team as an Outfielder. In conference play, she had a .333 batting average, .410 slugging percentage and .386 on base percentage. She stole three bases out of three attempts and struck out only four times. Batting in the #2 position, she bunted, slapped and ran the bases well. Playing centerfield, she was quick to the ball, took correct angles, threw accurately, hit her cut-offs for tags at 3rd and at the plate. She had one conference error, ending the season with a team-high .982 fielding percentage. She started all five seasons. Her knowledge of the game and leadership on the field will be missed by the team. Rubye is attending the University of Iowa this fall. 

SUZANNA YODER, senior, made the SEISC First Team as an Infielder. In conference play, she had a .366 batting average and .469 on base percentage. She batted in the #1 position. She had fifteen hits, eleven RBI and scored seventeen times. She hit two doubles, two triples and three home runs for a .732 slugging percentage. She also had eight stolen bases out of eight attempts. Playing shortstop, she had a .905 fielding average. She attacked the ball and was instrumental in several double plays. She started all five seasons. Her speed on the base paths and her determined, competitive spirit will be missed by the team. Suzanna is attending Goshen College this fall where she will play basketball and run track.

MIA GRABER, junior, made the SEISC Second Team as an Infielder. In conference play, she had a .317 batting average and .349 on base percentage. She hit seven doubles for a .488 slugging percentage. She batted in the #3 position. Mia’s presence at 1st base is invaluable to the team. She’s smart and plays heads-up ball. She has strong, consistent footwork and glovework. She ended conference play with a .958 fielding percentage. 

SARAH MILLER, sophomore, made SEISC Honorable Mention. Sarah started the season playing  infield, but ended the season in left field. She hit in the clean-up position.  LEAH BONTRAGER, freshman, made SEISC Honorable Mention. Leah plays sports year round, but set aside time to practice every morning. Leah pitched the team out of jams and came back on several 3-0 counts.

The 2019 IMS baseball team had seven total selections.

Senior TREVOR LEYDEN was a first team all-conference selection as a pitcher. Leyden finished the  year with a 0.33 ERA, best in the Superconference and the state. He worked 21 innings, striking out 24 and finishing with a 3-0 record. At the plate he hit .340 with 18 total hits, 21 runs scored and nine RBI.

Senior BLAKE BONTRAGER was a first team all-conference selection as a catcher. His .415 average was sixth best in the Superconference. He was fifth in the league with 25 RBI, had 27 total hits and scored five runs. On the mound he was 3-3 with 35 innings thrown with a 4.80 ERA, and striking out 39.

Sophomore ELI OURS was a first team all-conference selection as an infielder. He hit .343 while driving 15 on 23 total hits and scored 20 runs. On the mound, Ours was a perfect 5-0 with a 1.82 ERA. He struck out 40 in 34 innings of work.

Freshman NOAH MILLER was a first team all-conference selection as an outfielder. Miller hit .338 for the year with 23 total hits, scoring 25 runs and driving in eight. On the mound he was 1-1 with 12 innings of work and a 5.11 ERA, striking out 14.

Sophomore LONDON SCHROCK was a second team all-conference selection on the infield. Schrock finished the year hitting .333 with 23 total hits, 17 RBI and eight runs scored. On the mound he worked 10 innings with a 6.56 ERA.

IMS had a pair of honorable mention all-conference selections in JACOB BOLLER and KOBE BORNTAGER. Boller, a senior, finished the year hitting .319 on 23 hits, driving in seven and scoring seven times. Borntrager, a junior, hit .250 in 2019 with 15 total hits, eight RBI and 11 runs scored.
