Word Wizardry Summer Writing Camp

Word Wizardry Summer Writing Camp

Camp Description
Do you love Harry Potter or wish you could attend Hogwarts? Then sign up for our fun-filled summer camp, Word Wizardry! We’ll make our own play wands, write fictional spells, create potion recipes, hold Quidditch matches, and even have a Horcrux scavenger hunt. Find out if you belong in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin through our Sorting Ceremony, and then work hard to earn the House Cup for your house! Prepare your Hogwarts’ cloak and broom because we are going to turn words into something magical!

Camp Instructor, Madeleine Roberts-Ganim, is a self-described Harry Potter nerd and history buff who has led youth writing workshops with the Iowa Youth Writing Project for the past three years. During the school year, she leads IYWP weekly writing clubs at Horn Elementary in Iowa City and serves as an IYWP Intern. Over summers, she leads the IYWP Word Wizardry and History Hunt camps for children. She will attend the University of Chicago this fall, with a focus on History and K-12 Education.

We will also have an evening program where campers will get to share some of their creations from the week on Friday, July 12th at 7:00 PM. We will be joined by our culinary and art camp friends. Come share some delicious snacks and see all we’ve created.

Sign up now for your spot in this great creative camp!
