Soccer Camp Next Week

Students from Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to join camp coach, Austin Errthum for soccer camp on the IMS campus July 1st – 3rd. Hello! My name is Austin Errthum. I just graduated from the University of Northern Iowa where I played football and majored in Biology Education. I am now a teacher and training for the NFL. I also played soccer at Drake my freshman year. Soccer has been a large part of my life as I have been playing it for as long as I can remember. It has taken me overseas, and all around the country. I have seen it all for the most part when it comes to soccer and coaching.

That is part of why this camp is always one of my favorite weeks in the summer. I get to coach and share what I have seen or learned from my playing days and also watching others coach in various situations. Another reason is to give back to the community and game that gave me so much as I am a Mid-Prairie graduate and was on the only state tournament team they have ever had. Soccer was a ton of fun as I grew up and I miss playing it to this day so making new relationships being able to coach and help others become or grow their passion for soccer is a lot of fun. The last reason I like to do this camp is that it gives kids an opportunity to play more soccer and to learn new skills or make their own new friendships. I am a very goal oriented person so to see a kid the first day not know much about soccer or walk in to camp alone and shy, and by the end have them smiling with another kid passing the ball around better is very rewarding for not only me but all the coaches who are there.
