Three Join The IMS Team

Zach Weiss has begun his time as Director of Facilities and is overlapping with Joe Swartzentruber through this month. Joe began here in the spring of 2000, so 19 years later, he’s stepping away. Zach is a 2012 grad of IMS and was one of those guys who appreciated Joe Swartzentruber’s mentorship and hopes to provide that for our students as well. Zach and wife Mary are the parents of Eleanor (2) and attend Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church, where they serve as youth sponsors.

Leanne Bender will join the IMS Administration in the roles of School Counselor, Activities Director, and Assistant Administrator. Leanne has most recently served as School Counselor at Mid-Prairie West Elementary. Leanne is married to Kelby Bender, who teaches and coaches at Mid-Prairie. Leanne and Kelby are the parents of Madelyn (14) and Morgyn (9) and attend Kalona Mennonite Church. Leanne replaces Bruce Kooker, who’s been here on a part-time basis, and will return to his home in Ohio.

Angela Snakenberg will teach Business and serve as Tech Specialist next fall. Angela is a Minnesota native and graduate of Northwestern (Orange City, IA) College. She taught at Keota for five years before stepping away when she had small children. Angela is married to Schuyler Snakenberg, who teaches Social Studies at Mid-Prairie. They have two children, Esther (4) and Vaughn (2) and attend the United Church of Faith in Keota. Angela replaces Dania Mosbeck, who has decided to stay closer to home in Cedar Rapids and pursue a full-time position. Angela will be picking up the Tech duties that Jane Schlabaugh is currently doing.
