Emily Miller (’98) said, “IMS is an excellent alternative to larger public schools and were four of the best years of my life!” This most likely comes from the lifelong relationships she built with classmates and faculty during her time there. Emily talked about how the people she met in her years at IMS remain some of her favorite people to this day!

This also led her to describe IMS in one word as SUPPORT. She said, “The faculty/staff and students supported me when I was a student but that support has continues until this day. The family-like relationships that you build with both faculty and students is so different than the typical high school experience.

Emily was involved in things like music, drama, and volleyball and she said her favorite classes were Spanish and “anything with Marcus (Miller).” She said her faith and learning was integrated through daily chapels, Bible and faith-based classes, programs like Interterm (SALT), and an environment that supports and understands students needs in life events and changes.

Emily felt that IMS was instrumental in preparing her for college and life beyond school. She mentioned the small class sizes and relationships with faculty which allowed her to grow in her knowledge exponentially, getting good grades and ACT scores. It was her performance in high school that helped Emily get into a nursing school where she excelled and continued on to successfully complete her Masters degree. And currently she is months away from completing her PhD. Emily said none of these degrees would have been possible without IMS.
