Micah Kacmarynski Named National Merit Commended Scholar

We are proud to share that Micah Kacmarynski ’26 has been named a National Merit Commended Scholar at Hillcrest Academy. Congratulations, Micah! This award is a reflection of your hard work, dedication, and excellence in the classroom, and we are so proud of you.

Each year, about 1.3 million high school juniors take the PSAT. The top 50,000 scorers in the nation are recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of those, only about 34,000 are named National Merit Commended Scholars.

This honor places students among the top 2-3% of test takers nationwide. In Iowa, about 9,000 high school juniors take the PSAT each year. Only 250 or so earn the honor of National Merit Commended Scholar, representing roughly the top 2% of all test takers. That averages less than one student per school in the state.
