Hillcrest Academy hoops standout Seth Ours finished a phenomenal career on the court by hitting the 1,000 point mark in his final season.

Ours scored his first points in his first game for the Ravens, putting up seven in a 50-35 loss at Mediapolis November 30th of 2021. He ended his freshman year with 165 total points.

As a sophomore, the numbers continued to climb, posting 270 total points.

As a junior, Ours hit the halfway mark on his trek, notching his 500th point during a career high 29 point game against Lone Tree, December 5th, 2023. The Ravens won the contest with the Lions 75-57. His junior season turned out to be his top scoring year with 370 total points.

As a senior, Ours hit the magic 1,000 number on his second basket of a January 14th, 2025 70-33 win at Columbus. He would score a game high 16 on the night. Ours spoke with KCII Sports after getting to 1,000 points about how it felt and what it meant to him, “It was a layup over two guys and, I wanted to get them quick, just to get it out of the way. It was special to see everyone stand up and clap and hold up signs. I was kind of thinking ‘focus on the game’, but it was nice to see them all cheering for me. Afterward, to take pictures with them was nice, it was kind of a big group. (On joining the group of 1000 point scorers), I know all of those guys. Just to think of all of those guys, to be a part of that now, it’s cool and special. The tradition and all of the players that have come through here makes it that much more special.”

Seth Ours finished his career with 1,161 points, fifth most in Hillcrest history. Placing him just ahead of 2000 graduate Luke Gingerich’s 1,133 points, and just behind his brother Eli’s 1,187 points, from the Class of 2021. Class of 1992’s Jason Hershberger is the all-time Raven record-holder with 1,686 points. Ours is the ninth player in Hillcrest history to reach 1,000 career points. Hillcrest ended this season with a 21-4 overall record.
