Ravens Continue to Shine

The Hillcrest Ravens Lady sprinters continued to shine at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet held in Wayland Thursday.  The meet was hosted by WACO and featured both the north and south divisions of the conference.  Races were seeded with both divisions combined while field events had separate flights for each division.  Hillcrest is in the north division.  Delaney Shaw had two personal bests in the 200 and 400 meter dashes.  She placed second in the 400 with a time of 1:08.04.  Shaw placed fourth in the 200 in 29.60 seconds.  Both Shaw and Morgyn Nafziger had two second personal bests in the event.  Nafziger placed seventh in 30.67 seconds.  Erin Bontrager lowered her best time in the 400 meter dash to 1:17.61 to place eighth.  Nafziger edged teammate Anna Torok in the 100 meter dash.  Nafziger was eighth in 14.34.  Torok was ninth in 14.35.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Nafziger, Torok, Bontrager and Shaw lowered their season best time to 56.29 to place seventh.  Claire Withrow placed tenth in the 800 in 3:02.31.  Shaw and Torok also scored team points in the field events.  Shaw placed fifth in the long jump with a best jump of fourteen feet nine inches while Torok placed eighth in thirteen feet five and one half inches.  Torok also placed thirteenth in the shot put with a best throw of twenty-six feet two inches.  Hillcrest placed ninth in the nine team field.

For the Hillcrest boys Owen Scott competed in the jumps scoring points in both the high and long jumps.  He tied his personal best of six feet in the high jump to place third.  His jump of nineteen feet eleven and three quarters inch placed him fourth in the long jump.  The Ravens return to Wayland for the 1A State Qualifier meet Thursday May 11.
