Advent focuses on Joy: Chapels Dec. 12-19

Don Patterson and Alex Zimmerman of Thursday Mornings with Alex and Don

Our Advent theme for the week of December 12-16 was Joy.

On Monday, we heard from Aaron Fleming, pastor at New Life Community Church in Wellman. Pastor Aaron share his thoughts on the joy of the Lord.

Tuesday’s chapel time was in small groups.

On Wednesday, we played pictionary in small groups with Advent themes such as Nativity, Joy to the World, and Silent Night.

Thursday’s chapel time was spent in watching a portion of the Veggie Tales Christmas video.

We wrapped up the week with the Hillcrest Academy Praise Band leading in singing Advent themed songs such as How Many Kings and Go Tell it on the Mountain.

The chapel life on the last week of the fall semester began with recording a special live episode of Thursday Mornings with Alex and Don. This consisted of Alex Zimmerman from West Chester United Methodist Church asking questions of faith and the Bible of Don Patterson, our head custodian. This is a regular podcast that Alex and Don create and post on social media. Questions had been solicited from students during the previous week.

Tuesday was our regular small group gathering time.

Wednesday was our last day of the semester because of weather. We heard from graduating senior Rebecca Farrier who has completed requirements for graduation and will be joining a team that will travel to Japan. Rebecca shared reflections of her time here at Hillcrest.
