The Prodigal Son: Chapel Oct. 10-14

Freshman Adrianne Blauvelt and junior Emily Curtiss enjoy the hymn sing

Our chapels this week were guided by the parable of Jesus found in Luke 15:11-32, most commonly known as the parable of Prodigal Son.

On Monday, we began exploring the scripture by reading through it and viewing a Bible Project video about the parable. Bryn Hovde, art instructor, then showed a number of paintings from various artists through the years which depicted the story.

Tuesday’s chapel was spent in small groups.

On Wednesday, we viewed a lego animation of the story and then responded to discussion questions about it in our homeroom groups.

We were privileged to have Andrew Lundstrom, pastor at First Baptist of Wellman, with us on Thursday. Pastor Andrew shared about how both sons in the story were “lost” and both needed to experience the grace and love of their father.

We concluded our chapel week with a hymn sing in the Celebration Hall foyer. One of the songs we sang was based on our parable of the week – “Far, Far Away” (I Will Arise).
