The Hillcrest Ravens returned to action, traveling to Mediapolis under rainy skies. The Ravens were a bit short staffed with two starting defenders absent because they were in the concussion protocols. Despite this, the Ravens jumped on Mediapolis early taking a 1-0 lead after Diego Ramos sent a pass across the front of the goal where Collin Miller smashed the ball into the net five minutes into the half.

The Ravens created several good options but failed to finish while Mediapolis countered with a goal five minutes later. The score remained tied until 10 minutes left in the half when Mediapolis did a nice job of creating a chance in the box, for the 2-1 lead.

The Ravens had a hard time creating offensive pressure in the second half, but kept Mediapolis from scoring again until nearly the halfway point when Mediapolis found the net twice in the space of a minute.

Despite the goals allowed, the back line of Grant Bender, Bryce Bailey, Seth Ours and Oscar Flores-Calix played well adjusting to the turf field and the moist conditions.

Hillcrest drops to 4-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference. Hillcrest returns to action Monday, hosting Wapello. Senior players and managers, and their parents will be recognized before the start of Monday’s game. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
