The eighth minute of each half caused problems for the Hillcrest Ravens, Saturday morning as they gave up three goals during the match, with all three coming in that time frame, one in the first half and two in the second.

After warming up in a light rain, the two teams took the field as the rain stopped but the wet conditions remained. Both teams generated some offensive chances but it was the Cedar Valley Huskies who made the most of theirs, picking up the goal 8 minutes into the half. The Ravens began to apply more pressure but failed to find the net until late in the half when Micah Gerber kept the ball alive in the box, tapping it to Seth Ours who sent the ball by the goalie to equalize the score at half.

The eighth minute caused problems again in the second half, as Cedar Valley scored twice in the span of a minute, the first on a nice shot, the second off a deflection. The Ravens dug deep and tightened up the defense as they looked to claw back into the match. Near the halfway point, Hillcrest pressure forced Cedar Valley to commit a  penalty in the box. Grant Bender calmly sent the pk into the net for the 3-2 score. Hillcrest continued to press to find the equalizing goal but couldn’t capitalize on several scoring opportunities.

Hillcrest drops to 4-5 overall and remains at 3-2 in the conference.
