Ravens drop to Burlington Notre Dame
The Hillcrest Ravens traveled to Burlington to face defending 1A state Champion Burlington Notre Dame. Playing in brutal conditions with a 25 mph wind in 30 degree temperatures made it tough for both teams, but more so for the Ravens who lost the opening coin flip, so spent the first half going into the wind. With the wind at their backs Notre Dame created sustained pressure on the Hillcrest goal. The wind was strong enough it made goal kicks difficult, but the Ravens persevered, keeping Notre Dame from scoring until nearly the halfway point of the half when Notre Dame scored twice in the space of two minutes.
In the second half, Hillcrest had the wind at their backs, though over the course of the half the wind decreased slightly. Notre Dame came out strong, scoring twice in the first two minutes of the half and then finished the scoring with two goals sandwiched on either side of the halfway point of the second half.
Aiden Krabill recorded 14 saves in goal. Collin Miller stepped into the goal for the last ten minutes and recorded two saves.
Hillcrest drops to 1-1 in the conference and 2-3 overall. Hillcrest returns to action Thursday, hosting Central Lee and Friday hosting Danville.
