Red Ribbon Week: Chapel Oct. 25 – 29

Curtis Fry

This week’s chapel events were planned by the Hillcrest Academy Parent Teacher Organization in conjunction with Red Ribbon Week.

On Monday, Theodore Krabill, father of senior Aiden Krabill, shared his story with us. Theodore talked about having a good sense of self-identity as given to us by Jesus. He also touched on being able to go to someone that you trust to talk with, especially when we’re experiencing difficult times.

Tuesday was a planned late start for teacher inservice day so there was no chapel time.

Wednesday’s chapel featured Curtis Fry. As Curtis told his story, he focused on the importance of making good choices. He also talked about recognizing red flags or warning signs and not leaving God out of our decisions. It is important to have persons to hold us accountable for our choices.

On Thursday, we heard from Will Hart. Will spent a number of years during his childhood on his own because of the difficulty of his home life. Finding faith in God and having people who believed in him was crucial in helping him overcome those difficulties.

Friday’s chapel time was spent in small groups settings to process the input we received from this week’s speakers.
